At my shop in Greensboro, I rebuild the complex and delicate mechanism referred to as the “action” of the grand piano. This includes replacing piano hammers and other action parts, along with rebuilding the keyboard, pedal and damper mechanisms found in every piano.

As a classical pianist, I know that the health of the action mechanism is essential to the pianist’s ability to play the piano, whether they be a professional or amateur. A piano in need of new hammers becomes difficult to play, harsh in tone quality, and frustrating at every sitting. Unfortunately, the more a piano is played, the sooner the numerous felt pieces found in the piano action deteriorate and produce discernible degradation both of the “feel” of the piano keyboard, and the tone quality. I will be happy to set up an appointment to discuss action rebuilding and action regulation with you if you find your piano in any way frustrating to play.
